SaaS Delivery Details

Broad Bandwidth and Reliable Access
CollabNet has access to a worldwide network backbone. Connectivity to this backbone is via a 100Mbit/sec connection, which can be easily expanded to satisfy customer requirements.

CollabNet datacenter partners have nearly 500 peering relationships at its datacenter facilities. These relationships allow CollabNet to connect its datacenter network directly to other Internet providers as desired. The third party peer link allows for connectivity redundancy independent of the CollabNet datacenter provider. It allows CollabNet to work seamlessly around network problems within the provider's fabric, as well as to perform "traffic shaping" to provide customers with the best, fastest and most reliable user experience. The traffic shaping capability allows CollabNet to determine the highest-performance Internet routes between the CollabNet environment clusters and the customer's own facilities.

Redundant Architecture
CollabNet has designed the datacenter network with optimal redundancy, flexibility, and rapid scalability in mind. While every layer is dependent upon the others to ensure smooth data flow to and from the CollabNet environment cluster, the design ensures that no one-component failure can take down the entire network. Each piece of network equipment is fully redundant, with each unit having a sister unit designed for both load-sharing as well as for on-the-fly fail-over for the other. Growth does not obsolete current hardware investments.

Scalable Server Farm
CollabNet runs on industry-leading operating systems and servers, offering superior security management and reliability. In addition, each server is hardened, ensuring all unnecessary services and daemons are disabled, eliminating risk of attack via back doors in non-essential services. Within each Internet datacenter, the LAN architecture has been designed to scale at a pace equal to or greater than our client's bandwidth requirements. Using a layer 2/3 switch, the architecture allows rapid scalability in anticipation of customer demand.

Facilities
The datacenter facilities are reinforced against possible earthquake damage, and protected by physical access security, including human security guards, a pass card system, video surveillance, and other security measures. Within the facilities, all equipment is in CollabNet's own secure cages and can be accessed only by CollabNet-authorized personnel. CollabNet's space within the datacenter can be quickly reconfigured to accommodate overall growth in CollabNet's business or the needs of a particular customer.

The datacenter provides stable temperature and humidity levels for operating computer and network equipment. Advanced detection technology is used to detect smoke and fire at a very early stage, and then triggers a fire suppression system that is designed to protect electrical equipment and to confine fire suppression techniques to only the area affected.

Redundant Power
The datacenter provides multiple Main Points of Entry (MPOEs) for electrical power to provide redundancy in the event of a failure of any one external power source. Within the datacenter, all power is run through a Continuous Power System (CPS) that conditions the power for use within the center and provides two levels of redundancy, one to provide backup in the immediate aftermath of an external power outage, and a second to provide emergency power during an extended outage. The system meets or exceeds the rigorous requirements of power quality standards mandated by the United States Department of Defense and others.

SaaS Delivery Security
Security is provided in the CollabNet environment on multiple layers, including the physical, network, host, and application layers. CollabNet datacenter partners maintain a 24x7 staff presence, network staff, and security guards at the datacenter. Coupled with physical defenses including bulletproof glass, video cameras, and motion detectors, no portion of the facility is left unmonitored for any length of time.

All CollabNet servers are on their own dedicated Ethernet segment to ensure the privacy of data transmitted between servers and are behind a firewall to prevent outside attacks.

On Site

In addition to CollabNet's SaaS offerings, we provide production-ready installation options for enterprises that desire to deploy CollabNet TeamForge onsite. The CollabNet TeamForge downloads leverage the experience and robustness gained from CollabNet delivering its SaaS offering for over 10 years. CollabNet's onsite deployment provides many of the same benefits of CollabNet's SaaS offering, including stability, short deployment times, low operating expense, and rapid upgrades, but it also gives you the control and security measures that your business requires. Use the TeamForge ALM platform to get started on your distributed software development activities in minutes, rather than extending resources and time building, maintaining, and installing your own on-premise tools.

CollabNet offers two onsite deployment options, depending upon the size, scope and platform need of your project team:

  • VMware cross-platform virtual appliance download
  • Red Hat and CentOS native Linux download

CollabNet TeamForge Virtual Appliance
The quickest way to get your TeamForge deployment up and running is by installing the TeamForge virtual appliance on your desktop or in your data center.. Simply execute the installation package, and get started within minutes. You will not require lengthy server setup or time to build out a server application stack as CollabNet's virtual appliance package is a simple download that utilizes VMware® and leverages the quality of CollabNet's SaaS deployment model. There is also a recurring upgrade download based on the same technology that enables turnkey movement to new releases of TeamForge as they become available.

The virtual appliance is made up of a complete, self-contained operating system, database, application server, and the full suite of TeamForge capabilities that all install without modification. The appliance also comes with the additional benefit of predefined and pre-populated projects so that you can see real examples of the TeamForge suite including project content management, defect tracking and software configuration management.. The TeamForge virtual appliance is perfect for small or medium size teams of up to around 50 users and/or for teams using the popular Windows platform.

CollabNet TeamForge Native Linux Download
To optimize your team's experience and scale, this installation package allows you install the TeamForge application in your native Linux environment. In addition to providing a more scalable and higher performance runtime experience the native install allows you to 'bring your own stack' of operating system, database, and services server distribution within the constraints of the installation guidelines. Installation accuracy and speed is enhanced with intelligent dependency management technology that can detect and resolve conflicts between your installed infrastructure packages and the packages required for a successful installation of TeamForge.

Installing the native Linux TeamForge downloads on your local server or in your data center is a straightforward process. IT administrators are able to install the native download on a local server or in your data center in 1-2 hours with little assistance. If help is required, CollabNet offers both Community support and forums as well as expert consulting installation services to get you started. There is also a recurring upgrade download based on the same technology that enables turnkey movement to new releases of TeamForge as they become available.

The native deployment of TeamForge extends the TeamForge virtual deployment from a capabilities perspective and further enables teams to customize their application lifecycle development process. These extra capabilities include:

  • Virtually unlimited user community sizes
  • Site customization (the ability to tailor the site look and feel and the ability to build and deploy custom integrations to your TeamForge installation)
  • Adds Clear Case, CVS, and Perforce support in addition to Subversion
